Ayana Kassam, second grader at Prairie Waters Elementary, isn’t a stranger to being a successful entrepreneur. This second year program veteran applied lessons learned from 2017 and her business results show it!
Owner/operator of Lemon Squeeeezy, located at 180 Marina Drive, Ayana received top marks from judges in all scoring criteria - Business Results, Goals and Share Your Story. Out of a possible 100 marks, she received an impressive 94.5.
Not only did Ayana meet her profit goal, she exceed it by 11.5%. After expenses and paying back her investor, with interest, her reported profit was $279.94CDN. Implementing the lessons from the workbook on spend, share and save, Ayana saved 50% of her profit and donated 34% to Aga Khan Foundation Canada - World Partnership Walk. A not-for-profit organization that raises funds by walking to support development initiatives that help millions of people in Africa and Asia break the cycle of poverty and improve quality of life. www.worldpartnershipwalk.com.
When responding to the question what’s next for you now that you are an entrepreneur, her response was, “I’m planning to sell lemonade at home when my parents have a garage sale. I will definitely participate in Lemonade Day again next year to learn more about entrepreneurship, reducing expenses and increasing sales. Can’t wait!!”
