Young Girl Gives Back in a Big Way

Emily

Emily has raised thousands of dollars for a local non-profit benefiting homeless students in the Detroit area. It all started with Lemonade Day five years ago. Now she needs your help with her goal of trying to double what she has already raised.

Her journey began in 2011 as a kindergarten student when she first participated in Lemonade Day. Her passion for the program and desire for helping others was thus triggered. Over the past five years she has raised over $6,893.46 for The Homeless Education Project supporting homeless students in Macomb County. And she doesn’t stop there! Last year she hosted her first coloring party in which over 100 coloring pages were donated to Desert Angels.

This year Emily’s goal is to raise $6,000 for The Homeless Education Project and send more coloring pages to Desert Angels. Yes, you read that right, $6,000! To help her do so she has brought along her younger brother, Michael, for the journey and to show him the ropes. She has managed her own Facebook Page to assist in the awareness of her efforts.

However, a setback this year for Emily is the fact that we no longer have a city director in Detroit, at the moment. This means Lemonade Day is not a city sanctioned event with publicity. Of course Emily has not let that get in her way of giving back to those in her community. She has set out and continued to use the business skills she has learned from Lemonade Day. She reached out to her local city officials to get permission and ask about permits to host her own Lemonade Day and contacted us at the national office.

Emily and Michael are both very happy to be giving back to the community and helping others. We are extremely proud of both of you! Emily and Michael are both a #LemonadeHero in our book. Please help us in helping them spread the word of their lemonade stand, Emily’s Happy Day Lemonade.

The stand can be found at:

45619 Thorn Tree Lane

Macomb, MI 48044

Saturday June 4th

1 to 4 p.m.

Or donations can be made at Emily’s virtual lemonade stand.

You can also find information on her Facebook Page.

Dollars Raised

The MISD Homeless Education Project provides assistance to homeless students in Macomb County. The students are provided school supplies, backpacks, clothing, and shoes to help them succeed in school. The families are given assistance in many areas to help them in their home displacement. Emily and Michael enjoy helping students feel comfortable and secure in their education.
