From Thanksgiving to #GivingTuesday
Thanksgiving—it’s a time that we tend to take stock of our lives, count our blessings, stuff our bellies…then… it’s over. 6pm hits and the major chains start fighting for our dollars, making us forget about all that we are blessed to have, on the search to get the next newest and hottest item.
Our focus quickly shifts from Thanksgiving to Black Friday Shopping, then on to Small Business Saturday (woop woop!), then, not to be outdone, online retailers get their Cyber Monday. After all the time, energy, and money has been spent, we get to Giving Tuesday.
Do something different this year, and start talking with your kids about Giving Tuesday NOW. Make a commitment to give before all of the hustle and the bustle of the holiday season sets in. Talk with your kids about different programs helping people in need, and ways you can give individually or as a family.
If you want to make a financial gift, there are many ways now to do that. Many organizations are given matching grants on Giving Tuesday through various social media avenues or their own partners. Lemonade Day Louisville is participating in a fundraiser on Facebook where gifts have the potential to be matched dollar for dollar!
Lemonade Day focuses on financial literacy and entrepreneurship. If your personal or family giving aligns with this mission, we would love to make your dollars count.
Regardless of where your focus is, choose to think about your gift early. Discuss your ideas with your family. Get your kiddos involved! Make sure they remember all they have to be thankful for, and make that an ongoing discussion for the weekend—month—or even the whole year.
