Changing Lemonade Day

Locations Throughout the County , 8/31/20
11:00 AM

It’s time to change things up for 2020!

This year we’re not just going to make lemonade out of lemons, we’re going to make a difference in Humboldt County’s change shortage! While the pandemic might be able to prevent a single day of lemonade booths, Lemonade Day is more than just a day, it’s a celebration of resiliency in the face of adversity. To honor that spirit, we are offering an alternative: The Lemonade Day Change Drive!

Participating in the Change Drive is fun & easy! All you need to do is:

  • Safely collect change from family, friends or anyone who is interested in participating!
  • Clean and roll the change
  • Trade in in at a participating location for cash and a gift!
  • Submit your result to the trade in locaiton, and you will be entered to win a prize
  • Decide what to do with your cash: Spend Some, Save Some, Share Some?
  • For more information, call (707) 834-6460

Prizes & Follow Up

The first 500 kids who trade in change will receive a gift from Lemonade Day! And all kids who submit their results to Lemonade Day will be entered to win an additional prize as well.

Now that you’ve traded in your change, what are you going to do with your money? Lemonade Day encourages you to spend some, save some, and share some!

People are more likely to donate change is they know you plan to donate to a good cause. What are you passionate about? Animals, helping other kids, or ??? There are so many nonprofits doing amazing work in Humboldt County. Choose one, and decide how much of the change you collect will be donated to the cause!

We’d love to know what you do with your $$$s! You can submit your plan with your results on our website or on the information postcard.

How to Collect & Roll Change

It’s so important to practice safe interactions while collecting change!

Here are some tips: If you are collecting from your household or immediate bubble, you should still wash your change! If you do a drive to collect from friends and neighbors, do it safely! Make sure you wear a mask and stay 6 feet apart. If at all possible, make the delivery is contact free. Have them leave the container of change for you.

Anytime you collect change, immediately put it in a soap bath, and wash your hands! Treat change just like any other object. Wash it (and your hands) for at least 20 seconds with warm soapy water. Once the change is clean and dry, it is safe to roll it.

Once you collect the change, you will need to roll it. You can pick up change rolls from your bank, or from participating banks. When rolling change, here’s how much you need to complete each roll:
Pennies: 50 = $0.50
Nickels: 40 = $2.00

Dimes: 50 = $5.00
Quarters: 40 = $10.00

We’d love to know what you do with your $$$s! You can submit your plan with your results when you trade in your change!
