What are all the items you will need to create your business?

As you make your plan, list all of the items you will need. Make sure that you account for those “intangibles” that you don't see, but are critical to delivering your product.

• How will you package the product?

• Do you provide anything with that product – like napkins, straws, etc.?

• In what will you make your product?

• How will you keep it hot or cold?

• Do you need any products to ensure health safety (hand sanitizer, hair nets, etc.)?

Often, when thinking about a business, new entrepreneurs focus on the product, but don't factor into the price the costs of packaging, delivery, and other necessary aspects. The best way to make sure that young entrepreneurs include these “hidden” costs is to have them talk through the experience – or role play. By doing so, not only will the “hidden” costs become obvious, but it will lead to more creativity and refining the plan!
