5 Lemonade Flavors That Put a Twist on the Classic Recipe

The heart of any good lemonade stand is great tasting lemonade. As we recently discussed in our blog post on business tips for running a successful lemonade stand, diversifying your offerings at your stand will give you a better opportunity to make more money, and this includes adding additional flavored lemonades to your menu.

While everyone loves an iced-cold glass of old-fashioned yellow lemonade, you have a better chance of attracting more customers with more than one flavor, and that means you’ll probably make a lot more money. And offering more than one flavor makes you stand out from the crowd and gets people talking about your stand.  Of course, extra flavors mean added costs for additional ingredients. So, before you come up with your new flavors, consider the added budget it will take to make them.

Here are 5 lemonade flavors we love that put a new twist on the good old-fashioned classic lemonade recipe:

Note: All the following start with the classic lemonade recipe which uses 1 ½ cups of lemon juice, ¼ cup of sugar, 5 cups of water, and ice. Serving size is typically 10-12 glasses, depending on size of glass.

Raspberry Peach Lemonade

  • Add a handful of raspberries and 3 peaches. Be sure to blend or juice the fruits before adding to your lemonade mix.

Mint Limeade

  • Instead of using lemons, substitute 1 ½ cups of fresh lime juice and then add 2 sprigs of chopped fresh mint.

Fresh Honey Lemonade

  • Add ½ cup of honey to the recipe for a sweeter taste.

Sparkling Mint Lemonade

  • Use 2 cups of sparkling water, 1 cup of fresh mint leaves and 8 fl. oz. of simple syrup.

Strawberry Lemonade

  • Add 1 ½ cups of blended strawberries.

Don’t stop with just these recipes —there are many other varieties you can create. When you are working your stand be sure to survey your customers to establish which they like the best and which they don’t care for. This will help you when deciding your menu for your next stand.  You can also track how many cups of each type of lemonade you sell to see which were most successful.  You will then be able to determine whether it was worth investing in the additional ingredients and time spent to make the new flavors.

Bottom line – you’ll never know what your customer likes unless you try it out on them, so go for it!
