Lemonade Day Expands Youth Impact to New Cities in 2018

“The bottom line of vibrant entrepreneurialism is that it creates wealth: for the entrepreneur, for the people that are employed as a result and for the local economy. It creates wealth on a national scale for the government in the form of taxation, which is then redistributed accordingly to the services and communities that need it the most.

The success of an entrepreneur is ultimately in creating a product or service that adds value to the lives of its users; whether that is an inherent need for the item or a simple desire to have it. Either way, an innovation on this scale can help to push a market forward on a domestic level, and – where relevant – drive exports to new overseas markets. This again is a wealth-creating exercise, which is a key driver of economic growth.

Happy 2018 to you and yours!

As many of us do every new year, the Lemonade Day national staff is pursuing several important goals. One of our primary goals for 2018 is to bring the Lemonade Day experience to more kids with support from cities of all sizes in the United States, Canada and even in South Africa.   As of 2017, more than 1 million kids learned about business ownership by participating in Lemonade Day and hosting a lemonade stand in their community.  Last year, 62 cities supported Lemonade Day. In 2018, we are able to bring on an additional 18 cities and increase the number of youth who can participate and benefit from this amazing program.

Cities that rally behind Lemonade Day benefit as much as the kids and their adult mentors do: Lemonade Day City Directors engage with thousands of community leaders, chambers of commerce, financial institutions, elected officials, businesses of all types, executives, youth organizations, schools, churches, and non-profit organizations who are demonstrating their commitment to helping kids learn valuable lessons that will benefit them for a lifetime.

Youth entrepreneurship is gaining momentum around the world. Studies have proven that introducing kids to entrepreneurial experiences at an early age makes a measurable impact on their future decisions related to education, training, life, and work. 

Cities and communities that host Lemonade Day programs for kids of Kindergarten through Fifth Grade age are making a difference in a positive, meaningful way: they are demonstrating their commitment to bettering people, society and the economy by supporting youth entrepreneurship. I invite you to join me in recruiting Lemonade Day expansion cities for 2018. We currently have 13 new cities for 2018 and are able to take on 5 more!
