Lemonade Day Season 2019 is Here! Time to Register to Participate in Lemonade Day Near You!

Spring is here and so is “Lemonade Day Season!”

That means Lemonade Day licensed territories—cities, communities, entire states, U.S. military bases and Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers locations—in 26 states are rallying kids to register to participate in Lemonade Day events over the next several weeks and months (April through late summer).

Lemonade Day teaches young kids lessons that will serve them for life. Through the experience of hosting their own lemonade stand in their own community, young kids will learn valuable business and character-building skills such as planning, site selection, product development, customer service, financial management, and social responsibility. In the process, these young business owners will gain confidence as they take risks and stretch their “hustle muscles.”

Kids are welcome to register to participate in Lemonade Day for free and have access to digital and printed learning materials. The startup costs to host a lemonade stand vary, but the average cost is about $20 per lemonade stand. Typically, our Lemonade Day entrepreneurs borrow “seed money” from an investor (AKA parent, relative or mentor) and secure their supplies: ice, cups, water, lemonade ingredients (homemade or packaged), tablecloths, napkins and anything else they would like to use to personalize their lemonade stand and make it appealing to others.

Our proven Lemonade Day program encourages kids to “spend some” on themselves, “save some” for their next lemonade stand or other business, and “share some” of their profits with a cause that matters to them.

Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers is an amazing partner to Lemonade Day on a national level. We are honored that Raising Cane’s Founder Todd Graves has chosen our organization for in-store and online promotions, which included a major fundraiser on March 20 for which the company donated $1 to Lemonade Day for every lemonade sold on that day.

Visit any Raising Cane’s to register kids, grandkids, friends, neighbors, and students through Raising Cane’s program.

Another way that kids can register is through their local market. As of now, 39 of our licensed markets have opened registration for Lemonade Day events.  Some of our newest markets include Puerto Rico (which offers information in English and in Spanish), Bermuda, Twin Counties, NC, Richmond, VA and Laramie, WY.

Information gathering is the first step, and registration is the next. We encourage kids and their mentors to follow the workbooks that we have produced, which include a “mentor guide.” These workbooks include checklists that lead to a successful, enjoyable Lemonade Day experience. Once the kids have a game plan, they set up their stand and greet customers, then they calculate their gross receipts and profits, then they report their results. That’s the process, in a nutshell!

We have ample proof that Lemonade Day works: more than 1 million kids have engaged in the positive Lemonade Day experience since 2007, when the program was started in Houston by serial entrepreneur Michael Holthouse and his wife, Lisa.

To date, a total of 80 licensed markets in the United States, Canada, South Africa, and Bermuda are participating in Lemonade Day.

As the national president of Lemonade Day and on behalf of our board of directors, I ask that you help me in sharing the good news about Lemonade Day as much as possible and as often as possible via your social media platforms, email, and “word of mouth.” Please invite everyone you know to learn more about Lemonade Day by accessing our website: https://lemonadeday.org/.
