What Lessons Did You Learn?

Michael Pauls Perfect Lemonade

One of the most fun and interesting parts of participating in Lemonade Day is when your child thinks about what they will do differently next time.  Starting and running a business is no small task.  And as your child goes through the process they are sure to have revelations about what worked, what didn’t work, and other great ideas to implement for their next stand.  Any successful entrepreneur will tell you, when you run your own business you often learn as you go and incorporating lessons learned into your next plan is very important.

As your child wraps up lemonade Day 2017 here a few questions for them to consider:

  1. Did you reach your spending, saving and sharing goals?  What would you do differently next time?
  2. How was the lemonade product you sold?  Would you change it?
  3. Would you sell any additional products?
  4. How was the location of your stand?  Did you have a lot of traffic?  Next time would you set up in the same spot?
  5. How did the construction of your stand work?  Did the setup make sense?  Was it easy to assemble?  What might you do differently next time?
  6. Were you pleased with how your stand was branded?  How might you change your branding next time?
  7. How did you market your lemonade stand?  Did the marketing work?  How else could you market your stand?
  8. Is there anything else you would do differently with your next lemonade stand business?

It’s a good idea to write down the answers to these questions right after your child completes their stand while the experience is fresh in their mind.  That way they will be ready to roll for Lemonade Day 2018!

About Lemonade Day

Lemonade Day is a non-profit dedicated to teaching every child across North America the business and financial skills that are the key ingredients of entrepreneurship. By learning these skills early in life, children will be better prepared to be successful, financially healthy adults. Through our fun, hands-on program Kids K-5 are empowered to start their very own business—a lemonade stand—and experience the feeling of earning real money, using 100% of their profit to spend, save and share based on their own goals.

Lemonade Day is in 62 cities throughout the United States. Over the past 10 years, we have served more than 1 million kids in our kid entrepreneur programs and in 2016 alone, 101,000 kids participated in Lemonade Day.
