The Problem
America was built on the back of small business. Entrepreneurs take risks believing they can realize their dream if they work hard, take responsibility and act as good stewards of their resources. Today’s youth share that optimism, but lack the life skills, mentorship and real-world experience necessary to be successful.

Lemonade Day doesn’t pair mentors and children. Rather, we inspire people to step up and DO SOMETHING by leading a child already in their lives through the steps of starting, owning and operating their very own business – a lemonade stand! Then we come alongside and provide the tools, encouragement, and support they need to have a great mentoring experience.

Through the planning and execution of a Lemonade Stand Business, the Lemonade Day curriculum is designed to walk students from the early steps of learning to set goal, through developing a plan for that goal, introducing business terms, creating a budget and learning about investing to the execution of a plan, speaking in the community, and earning, saving, spending and sharing their reward – the profits gained from their business.
Students gain experience in: Leadership; Teamwork; Financial Literacy; Resourcefulness; Problem Solving; Resilience; and more life skills.
The Lemonade Day program engages students in a fun and meaningful activity; parents as supporters, partners, educators and lemonade customers; and the community as investors or suppliers of donated materials, as guest speakers and subject matter experts and lemonade customers!

Lemonade Day is a free, fun, experiential learning program that teaches youth how to start, own and operate their own business – a lemonade stand. It began in Houston, Texas in 2007. Since then it has grown from 2,700 kids to 1 million kids across North America – including ours!
Each child who registers receives access to the lessons of Lemonade Day like creating budgets, setting profit-making goals, serving customers, repaying investors, and giving back to the community. Along the way, they acquire skills in goal-setting, problem solving, and gain self-esteem critical for future success. They keep all the money they make and are encouraged to spend some, save some and share some.
