The Problem

America was built on the back of small business. Entrepreneurs take risks believing they can realize their dream if they work hard, take responsibility and act as good stewards of their resources. Today’s youth share that optimism, but lack the life skills, mentorship and real-world experience necessary to be successful.

How we solve it

Together with partners like yourself, Lemonade Day is empowering the next generation with the life skills, mentorship and real-world experience needed to achieve their own American Dream, one lemonade stand at a time. Lemonade Day doesn’t pair mentors and children. Rather, we inspire people to step up and DO SOMETHING by leading a child already in their lives through the steps of starting, owning and operating their very own business – a lemonade stand! Then we come alongside and provide the tools, encouragement, and support they need to have a great mentoring experience.

First National Bank Texas and First Heroes National Bank introduced Lemonade Day to the Fort Cavazos Area community in the spring of 2010. At a youth development conference in Houston the prior year, bank staff was intrigued by this unique program that introduced children to money management and life skills through experiential learning.  Lemonade Day creator, Prepared 4 Life, also expressed an interest in expanding the program to reach children of military families.  Those initial conversations sparked the momentum that would lead the bank to sponsor this fun, free educational program.  In the years that followed, Lemonade Day Fort Cavazos Area has become an annual, community-wide event that inspires creativity and creates lasting memories.
